Lindt Chocolate in Malta


The M Demajo Group brought Lindt chocolate to the Maltese domestic market in 2001. Initially sold exclusively to travel retail, Lindt has since become a household name in Malta through its conspicuous presence in the local market. For over a decade M Demajo & Company Ltd. has been importing not only the signature Lindor Balls, but also the complete Lindt & Sprungli range including gift boxes for every occasion, as well as a variety of tablets in milk, dark and white chocolate Every year, for Christmas and Easter, Lindt shares the joy of their golden creations and specialities. Lindt is distributed in all major supermarkets, premium confectioners and retail outlets all over the Maltese territory.


 


History

The magic all started in 1845 Zurich by David Sprungli-Schwarz and son Rudolf who dared to make chocolate. In just two years, they grew from what was a small pastry shop to a larger shop in a booming area and a small factory. The business kept on expanding, increased factory facilities and technology and became known around the world.

Over half a century later, Sprungli built a new factory in Kilchberg where they are still today and converted the family owned company into a public limited securing its finance. In its first year, the public limited bought factory and brand from Rodolphe LINDT later renamed Lindt & Sprungli

The Swiss company became an international organization in 1994 and went on with acquisitions of other companies. Today, Austrian Hofbauer, Italy’s Caffarel and Ghirardelli in America are part of L&S.
